Weather you prefer white sand or wild rocky spots, no problem, Salento has got something for all tastes. Find here are some beachclubs where to spend quality beach days even in super crowded august. And where the water is so fresh and crystaline that it truly feels like heaven…
MARINELLI | San Gregorio
This place set on a giant wooden platform on the rocks has taken the beach-club concept to the next level: the harmonious mix of clean blue sea, good design, proper food and excellent service makes a beach day at Marinelli a unique beach experience
PUNTA SUINA | Gallipoli
One of the prettiest beaches in Italy I would say. And one of the very first beachclubs with groove in Puglia from very back in the day. Maybe in July and August “too much” groove (like everywhere else after all), if you are more into quite places just avoid this. But if you are ok with big crowds of fancy people of all ages vibing under the Puglia sun, this is still one of the best on offer. The beach is amazing, the vibe is funky, and the bar ok even thought it’s a bit expensive for the quality you get. But the location and the general experience make it all worth. Sunset is rather unique here: when there is the right dj the energy grows up really intense. In low season instead it is truly a place of unparalleled beauty, the pinnacle of heavenly Mediterranean beaches
LA CASTELLANA | Otranto
Just a short walk from the centre of Otranto, Lido Castellana is a small white sand beach run quite informally – but with the style and sense of quality they are famous worldwide for – by the family of local fashion designer Ennio Capasa of Costume National. I love the low-key grand style that you can breathe here, it is never pretentious let alone noisy. No loud music, the cute kids (it’s great for families), an honest bar and restaurant, and the lovely natural scenario (even though you are in the city) are the simple ingredients for a perfect relaxing beach day in beautiful Otranto
COTRIERO | Gallipoli
One of the last unpretentious, old school beach clubs remaining in the area, Cotriero is nice and easy going. Finally you got space here, there are not tens of sumbrellas glued one to the other. A big plus really, also considering the mix of white sand and rocks, the turquoise water, the quality music, and an honest menu of panini, salads and seafood bites. Best Choice for a laidback day with sun and beats
MORA MORA | San Foca
Awesome beach club only 15 minutes from both Lecce and Otranto, it is well protected from the northern wind that often blows too hard on these shores. Thus expect a large sandy bay with no waves and crystal water, where to enjoy quality moments of relax and ambient music. The restaurant is excellent
BEIJA FLOR | S.ta Caterina
This contemporary beach club has brought the retro-and-a-bit-boring town of Santa Caterina (nearby the Porto Selvaggio Natural Park) a fresh wave of fun and low-key glamour. Way down the town’s lungomare, a spacious and well designed wooden platform by the rocks takes you into a super-clean chilled water. And the bar is cute, also famous for their mojitos and for hosting fine Dj’s all the time. The lucky can reserve one of the two private areas inside a small grotto- Pure bliss…
