MALAFEMMINA | top pizza
In my opinion the best Neapolitan pizza in town, which many try to make but not many succeed at. It is not easy to make it the Napoli way, trust me, and this guy Ciro – of course a Neapolitan- really knows what he is doing.
No special flours and gourmet bla bla blas here, it is all about serious pizza and a small choice of starters that also celebrate the Neapolitan tradition, one on all the fried zucchini flowers filled with ricotta cheese which he makes to perfection.
Located a short walk from the old town, they have a large alfresco area. Make sure that you get a reservation, in summer it is busy until late

A paradise for the gourmand, this small deli shop is fully dedicated to precious hams, salami and cheese from all over southern Italy, wrapped into delicious gourmet panini.
Just indulge into their own combos – most of whom include premium jams and mustards- or make up your very own by choosing from the impressive assortment on display. Located just by Porta San Biagio, they have a few tables both inside and outside with a privileged view of the ancient gate of Porta San Biagio and the majestic Monument to the War Victims. Highly recommended!

The Schipa family has been making bakery for decades, and still today delivers the best bread in town along with an infinite choice of bakeries, sweets and an incredible selection of local treats for take away.
Think excellent parmigiana, potato pies, steamed vegetables, meatballs, state of art “Rustico Leccese” and many other treats that will litterally blow your mind. The patisserie too is of grand quality.
The variety is really large, thus just head here – it’s a short walk away from Porta Napoli – and get lost into this authentic Leccese food heaven.

Pizzicotto litterally means “the cute pinch”, as in pinching little bites of heaven in the form of a pizza. They make only Pizza al Taglio – sliced- the Roman way, and i have to say they do it excellently.
In fact this pizzais light, healthy and overall incredibly tasty. Be it their use of the freshest local ingredients or the manically selected flours, they are clearly one step beyond competitors with a product that is really one of its kind.
To avoid the long queues at the flagship shop in the old town, head at one of their other brunches in Via Taranto or Via Salandra in the shopping district

The undisputed queen of Lecce’s rosticcerias, La Sirena bakes every day hundreds of smoking hot calzoni – both fried and baked-, sliced pizza, croquetas, and few other stuff.
It’ just a tiny parlour in the shopping district where generations of Selentino people queue patiently -yes we the Italians are learning how to queue now- to gain their hot delights.
You haven’t been to Lecce if you even tried their calzone fritto.
