DOPPIOZERO | bistrot & cafe’
A Lecce landmark, this bistrot of design stays open all day and it’s super busy. Be it the fancy style, the central postion and the captivating menu, 00 Is just unique. Excellent for breakfast (they are among the fews in town serving the continental), brunch onwards they take you on a light journey from Puglia to Greece with a choice of super salads, cheese platters and tasteful creative mains. The cantine is interesting too and the cocktails simple but made state of the art. With its fancy international clientele 00 is also good for socializing with charming locals, expats and fellow travellers. Everybody love Doppiozero!
LA SUCCURSALE | pizza & bites
Formally an amazing pizzeria, Sucursale also serves a variety of delicious treats from the territory varying from vegetables to meats, and of course an outstanding pizza, the Neapoletan way. The inside space is well designed, and service is friendly and pretty fast for local standards. In the good season the piazzetta across the road is home to over 20 tables, with the adiacent bar “il Barroccio” playing interesting live music and dj sets. A mix of quality food and warm atmosphere, this is just perfect for good alfresco dinners in the hot lecce summer nights
LIVINGSTONE | nikkei delights
A venue of casual elegance with outstanding nikkei cuisine. Japan meets Brazil here -via southern Italy of course– for a (finally!) unpretentious five-star experience. Since the very first moment you cross their tiny door (which is itself pretty charming) you enter a new dimension, that of a cosmopolitan eatery where everything is right in place. The sophisticated recipes creatively associate fish, fruit and spices, resulting into a delightful mix of decadent tropical and Mediterranean flavors. LA PUTEA | local osteria
The newest trattoria in town, la Putea is a simple, unpretentious locanda where tradition plays a key role.Here the local heritage comes in a not-for-tourists format, with everything being really fresh and cooked by traditional standards, no compromise. Come Dio Comanda, how God wants it and how grandma would make it. Conveniently located nearby Porta Napoli, it is open for business lunch to dinner. Highly recommended

Everywhere in Italy you will find a so-called Neapoletan pizza, even though not many make it right. Even in Napoli. This place in old town Lecce instead really delivers it the original way. Owner Ciro is truly a Neapoletan established in Lecce from quite a while already, enough for him to gain a reputation among locals and tourists alike. The incredible location (a magnificent piazza with one of Lecce’s prettiest churches, Le Alcantarine), the informal service, the affordable price (it seems that pizza is not as costly as gold) and the top quality, make of Ciro’s a must for an authentic pizza experience with simplicity and good vibe. The way it should be (PIZZA MUST BE AFFORDABLE, not meant to be a freaking gourmet dish!)

The Schipa family has been making bakery for decades, and still today delivers the best bread in town along with an infinite choice of bakeries, sweets and a choice of incredible local treats that you can also eat there. LAURUS | cocktails in style
The ultimate cocktail bar in town, Laurus serves serious drinks in a warm, romantic ambience. They know what they are doing. Designed with a nice vintage feel, the space looks really good: I like to hang at the desk but I don’t mind the cozy back-room with sofas, and the outside area in the neo-classic piazzetta is lovely too. I’m not myself big fan of cocktails, but frankly when I visit Laurus I always end up digging more and more into theyr creative seasonal menu. In summer they are also in Gallpoli, where they took over the rooftop bar at the Palazzo Presta hotel

Just adventure a bit out of the old town and sample the authentic Italian pub style, a landmark for those into quality beer. IL BARROCCIO | music kiosk
Everybody in town know this simple kiosk with tons of tables outside, where tens of people from the most desparate backgrounds gather noon to late night for coffe, cocktaills & Ipa beers to the sound of great music from dj’s and international live acts. Theyr weekly live jams attract massive crowds, it can turn big fun. No table service, it is all basic and unpretentious here
