Sample the authentic cucina leccese at these amazing trattorias where delightful local food comes at great value for money and – do not give it for granted this part of the world – attentive service. Buon appetito!

The newest trattoria in town, la Putea is a simple, unpretentious locanda where tradition plays a key role.
Here the local heritage comes in a not-for-tourists format, with everything being really fresh and cooked by traditional standards, no compromise. Come Dio Comanda, how God wants it and how grandma would make it.
Conveniently located nearby Porta Napoli, it is open for business lunch to dinner. Highly recommended

I love this micro wine bar ran by two brothers, set in a narrow street nearby the church of Santa Croce. The formula “simple but well done” seems really working here: the mix of intriguing interiors, notable wines, fine cheese and excellent meats make it definitely worth a visit.
Along with an interesting wine offer and their own made beer named 3/4, this tiny place also serves quality meat cuts and some slightly revisited traditional recipes.
They play terrific jazz too, with their live winter sessions setting the whole neighbour on fire every thursday night.

Drive ten minutes out of town to San Cataldo, the beach of Lecce, and find this typical osteria where you can sample all the classics from the Salento seafood tradition: their spaghetti “cozze e vongole” (mussels and claims) are worth the trip alone.

La casa Blanca is a genuine, unpretentious eatery with fast and informal service, delivering authenticity tout-court at very reasonable price. While the beach across the road spreads a heavenly sea scent

This former amazing pizzeria also serves a variety of delicious treats from the territory, varying from vegetables to meat to a truly amazizng fried pizza, which they do the very Neapoletan way. Also the the Pocia sandwich with meatballs is amazing and – for the brave – the horse meat on tomato sauce is of the highest quality if you are lucky to find it on the special today’s menu.
The inside space is small and well designed while in the good season the piazzetta across is home to over 20 tables with the adiacent bar “il Barroccio” playing interesting live music and dj sets.
A mix of quality food and warm atmosphere, this is great choce for good alfresco dinners on hot lecce summer nights
